Mobile Phone crimes


Users are often distracted when on their mobile devices, making them more likely to be victimized by attacks. There are two common threats at the moment:

  1. Hacking via QR codes: A QR code is like a barcode and when your phone scans over it, it takes you to a website. Criminals are sticking malicious QR codes over real ones in public places like car parks, restaurants and even banks, fooling people into handing over personal/bank details when you think you are paying for something legitimately.

  2. Stealing your phone on a restaurant table: There is a significant increase in the physical theft of mobile phones in restaurants.
