Update on the High Street Gas project

February 20, 2020

Here is the latest update from the Project Manager who is overseeing the works to replace the Gas mains in the High Street..

We have progressed really well this week from where we finished on the bridge last week to just past king stable street, this section will be completed on Friday 21st and is around 65m which is over our predicted length per section

We are using our vacuum excavator tomorrow 19th therefore we will be fully closing the road but as agreed the road will be re-opened for access as soon as all excavation works are complete

I had a catch up Ros and Samantha onsite and we discussed a few points, the access at the top of the road closure has now been opened as much as possible with safety in mind whilst adhering to the NRSWA standard

The signs which explain the ‘access to residents’ will be altered to make it clear this is also for business and deliveries when open, the final point of the no parking cones being moved by the public is a tough one as we need them in place as we have had vehicles trying to park up. Our team onsite do a daily morning and afternoon check to make sure the site is safe and this will take place 7 days a week so we will monitor these as best as we can

If there is anything else you wish to discuss please feel free to get in touch

Kind regards

Richard Penny
