Waste Collection issues

RBWM have issued this statement after the many problems that have occurred with the Waste Collection since the contract was given to Serco:

"We are sorry that you have experienced problems with your waste collections and can but apologise for the poor service you have received in these past weeks.

Despite additional crews working in the Borough over the weekend, Serco have been unable to complete all of the work associated with the Bank Holiday with waste levels increased by over 29%, compared to operations prior to the Covid crisis. This means that by the end of Monday 7th September there was a significant a backlog of work.

In order to minimise the disruption as far as possible, Serco have agreed with the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead that:

  • Bins that were not collected on Saturday 5th September would be collected on Tuesday 8th September.

  • Bins that were not collected on Monday 7th September will be collected on Monday 14th September. Excess rubbish and recycling will be collected next to bins.

  • Bins that were not collected on Tuesday 8th September will be scheduled for completion on Saturday 12th September.

  • Serco commit to the completion of collection rounds on Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th September.

  • Bins that are not collected on Friday 11th September will be scheduled for completion over the coming weekend (12th and 13th September).

Serco are committed to addressing instances of multiple missed collections that some residents are experiencing, further to the steps above. The Council have provided Serco with a list of known issues for completion by the end of this week."
