Important information on lockdown grants

We have been asked to pass on the following information from the RBWM Business Rates Team:

We are aware that the current January lockdown grants lasted for a 42 day period that expires on Sunday 15th February. We have been in contact with colleagues on the BEIS government working party and they have confirmed that, at the moment, there is no news regarding the continuation of this support either way.

BEIS are putting a proposal to Treasury to make a further payment of potentially another 6 weeks but there is no decision as yet. They still need to have detailed discussions with Treasury and they also need to consider what announcements may be made on the 22nd February regarding any easements of lockdown.

The team is currently focussing on processing grant applications and wanted to reassure businesses that as soon as the information on future grants is announced it will be updated on the RBWM website https://www.rbwm.gov.uk/home/council-and-democracy/contact-us/coronavirus-information-and-support/business-support/covid-19-business-grants

The Business Rates Team have already started to receive queries from businesses regarding when they will get their next payment and this is reducing the amount of time they have to process grant applications.

Please keep checking the website for further announcements.
